Abstract

The purpose of this scoping review is to explore lifestyle medicine based interventions for adults with substance use or substance use disorder and examines how these strategies may support sustained recovery amid the ongoing addiction epidemic. Integrating lifestyle medicine, which emphasizes evidence-based pillars including nutrition, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, positive social connections and avoidance of risky substances, offers a complementary and holistic approach to addiction care. Findings from this scoping review will be used to guide and support further research on effective lifestyle interventions for adults with substance use disorder.
