Psychosocial Profile of Asian Pacific Islander American Young Adults towards Exercise and Nutrition
Abstract
The present scoping review is intended to analyze literature on attitudes, behaviors, preferences, and norms of the young adult (ages 18-40) Asian Pacific Islander Americans (APIA) towards physical activity and diet. Through this review, the authors expect to uncover interactions between social, cultural, and economic factors in hindering young adult APIA from maintaining healthy lifestyle habits to prevent chronic diseases. By exploring psychosocial factors that motivate health behaviors, the researchers hope to inform future public health programming for the wider APIA community.
