Sex differences in the role of early and adult life stress exposure on ADHD persistence in adulthood
Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate sex differences in the role of adverse childhood events (ACEs) and adult life stress exposure on adult ADHD symptoms and diagnosis. We will further examine to what extent this association is modified by genetic risk for ADHD and stress exposure (GRS for childhood maltreatment and stress in adulthood), as well as socioeconomic factors among females and males in the general population. Data from two population-based cohort studies will be used. The Lifelines Cohort in the Netherlands and the Stress and Gene Analysis Cohort in Iceland.
