Abstract

In this project, we explore how children age 4-8 engage with voting. Children participate via Zoom and are told that they will choose what to do with leftover stickers. They choose whether to vote (i.e., vote for which of two people will determine sticker distribution) or not vote (one sticker will be sent to them instead). Before making this choice, causal and moral responsibility are manipulated in a 2x2 design (moral high/low x causal high/low). This is a follow-up to work exploring moral and causal responsibility as predictors of voting in adults.
