Integrating Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis: Digital Therapeutic Interventions for Youth Mental Health in the Age of Social Media
Abstract
Project for preregistration and conduct of a systematic review and planned meta-analysis (where feasible) on digital therapeutic interventions for youth (10–24 years) mental health in the context of social media/digital environments. Led by researchers from the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia. Database searches will cover Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, JSTOR, PsycNET, ProQuest, and EBSCOhost; the search identified 468 records, with 120 duplicates removed (348 unique records for screening). The review will follow PRISMA-guided procedures, including dual independent screening, standardized data extraction, risk of bias appraisal, and structured narrative synthesis with random-effects meta-analysis by outcome domain (e.g., depression, anxiety, wellbeing) when data are sufficiently comparable. Social media/digital environment factors will be coded as contextual features (not necessarily an inclusion requirement). The project emphasizes equity considerations (Global South representation, marginalized youth) and context-sensitive policy/design recommendations.
