How Misdiagnosis of Temporomandibular Disorders Leads to Iatrogenic Dentistry: A Scoping Review.

This scoping review identifies systemic domains of diagnostic failure in TMD, including Structural Reductionism, Occlusal Overinterpretation, Educational Deficits, System Fragmentation, and Ethical Dissonance. Following PRISMA-ScR and JBI guidelines, the study maps how misdiagnosis leads to iatrogenic outcomes across dental specialties. Data synthesis involves 62 peer-reviewed studies and authoritative frameworks such as DC/TMD and ICOP.
