Abstract

Digital Storytelling (DST) has garnered increasing attention in healthcare settings. Centered on personal narratives and facilitated by digital tools, DST integrates text, images, voiceover, video, and other multimedia elements to construct rich storytelling materials. In practice, it emphasizes patient expression, reflection, and meaning-making, and is being increasingly applied in clinical contexts. Among patients with diabetes, DST may offer a unique pathway for sharing lived experiences, enhancing illness understanding, and fostering peer support. However, the scope, focus, and reported outcomes of existing research on DST in this population remain unclear. This scoping review aims to systematically explore how DST is being studied in the context of diabetes care, characterize the current research landscape, and inform future studies and clinical practice.
