Real-World Efficacy and Safety of Neoadjuvant Pembrolizumab in Early-Stage Triple-Negative Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Abstract
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is the standard of care for early-stage triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), an aggressive subtype associated with high recurrence rates. Randomized clinical trials have demonstrated improved pathologic complete response rates with the addition of the immune checkpoint inhibitor pembrolizumab to neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimens. However, patients enrolled in trials may not fully represent real-world populations. The real-world effectiveness and safety of neoadjuvant pembrolizumab in early-stage TNBC have not been systematically synthesized. This review aims to address this gap by evaluating real-world observational evidence.
