Abstract

This is an exact replication of Study 1, which sought to evaluate the effects of artificial intelligence-generated study materials on memory, comprehension, and metacognitive monitoring. Participants will read a series of text passages about the natural and social sciences, make judgments of their understanding, study the text passages either by re-reading, reviewing a ChatGPT study guide, or reviewing a ChatGPT study guide with interactive fill-in-the-blanks, and finally take a test assessing their memory and comprehension of the texts.
