Abstract

In the present study, we will use qualitative data to first assess the motivations underlying why people do or do not want to change their personality and the prevalence of these motivations. Our second aim is to assess whether AI models might be leveraged for the coding of such data by comparing how human raters and AI models perform when coding qualitative personality change-seeking motivation responses. We will assess the latter based on two factors. The first is level of interrater agreement both within rater type (AI or human) and across rater type. The second is how associations between change seeking motivations and known correlates (e.g., change seeking is negatively associated with life satisfaction and self-esteem; Hudson & Roberts, 2014; Quintus et al., 2017) compared given rater type.
