Abstract

The main goal of the project is to uncover potential inequalities in access to, and treatment for, mental health problems among migrants compared with non-migrants in Norway. Specifically, the project aims to 1) assess whether there is an excess mental health treatment gap among migrants 2) identify which groups are most affected with consideration to region of origin, sex and county of residence; 3) explore differences in treatment patterns (type of contact with health care services and uptake/discontinuation of psychotropic medicine) 4) identify socioeconomic factors that are associated with health care engagement among migrants with poor self-reported mental health.
