Legitimacy of parental authority and autonomy in adolescents and emerging adults: an international scope review
Abstract
This scoping review aims to map and synthesize international literature on the influences, impacts, and consequences of parental authority legitimacy on the autonomy of adolescents and emerging adults, identifying definitions, methods, associated factors, and research gaps. Three databases will be searched for this review: PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus. Based on the database findings, an initial bibliometric analysis will be performed. Subsequently, the findings will be organized according to the PRISMA-ScR criteria, with the following steps: selection of studies based on eligibility criteria identified in the title and abstract (step 1); full reading of the selected texts (step 2). The analysis of the selected studies will follow the PCC (population, concept, and context) structure, aiming to meet the objectives and answer the research questions. The results of the selected articles will be presented in narrative descriptions and tables.
