HEALTH LITERACY INTERVENTIONS AMONG AGRICULTURAL WORKERS: A SCOPING REVIEW PROTOCOL
Abstract
This scoping review aims to systematically map global evidence on health literacy interventions targeting agricultural workers. Agricultural workers face multiple barriers to health literacy, including hazardous working conditions, limited access to healthcare, geographic isolation, and socioeconomic constraints, which contribute to health inequities. Following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology and PRISMA-ScR guidelines, the review applies a Population–Concept–Context (PCC) framework in which the population includes rural and agricultural workers, the concept is health literacy interventions, and the context encompasses all geographic regions and implementation settings. Comprehensive searches will be conducted across international databases, grey literature, and organizational repositories without publication date restrictions. The review will synthesize evidence on intervention characteristics, implementation contexts, outcomes, and research gaps, providing an evidence map to inform future research, policy, and practice aimed at improving health literacy among agricultural workers worldwide.
