Abstract

This project examines whether prolonged exposure to war affects empathy and creates compassion fatigue. In a longitudinal study, we follow Israeli participants over two time points: at the beginning of the war and after a cease fire. At these two timepoints, we measure empathy using the four subscales of the IRI (Davis, 1983): empathic concern, personal distress, perspective taking, and fantasy.
