Abstract

This scoping review maps the scientific literature on the detection frequency of micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) in atheromatous plaques and the cellular pathophysiological mechanisms by which these particles injure the vascular endothelium and promote atherogenesis, linking them integratively to Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events (MACE).
