Apparent-length expansion in whole contours and isolated parts: evidence for configuration-dependent processing
Abstract
Data and analysis code for the manuscript "Apparent-length expansion in whole contours and isolated parts: evidence for configuration-dependent processing" (Vision Research). Twelve observers matched the perceived horizontal extent of 21 contour conditions (complete pentagons, open pentagons, isolated apices, pedestals, parallel line pairs, and rectangles; apex angles 30°, 44°, and 79°) against empty intervals using an adjustment method (1,347 trial-level responses). The repository includes raw data with and without observer identity, an observer-level Bayesian analysis (JZS prior, r = 0.707) that reproduces all Bayes factors reported in the manuscript, response-level statistics for comparison, Python analysis scripts, JASP files, and a detailed README.
