Abstract

Background: Sleep health is increasingly conceptualized as a multidimensional construct encompassing behavioral, experiential, temporal, and functional domains. In children, sleep health plays a critical role in development, learning, and daily functioning. Contemporary frameworks such as Peds B-SATED extend beyond sleep duration to include regularity, satisfaction, alertness, timing, efficiency, and sleep-related behaviors. The COVID-19 pandemic introduced substantial disruptions to children’s sleep–wake environments, and emerging evidence suggests that post-pandemic sleep health patterns may not reflect a uniform return to pre-2019 norms. However, it remains unclear how pediatric sleep health has been measured and operationalized in the post-pandemic period. Objectives: This scoping review aims to systematically map post-2019 research on sleep health in school-aged children (6–12 years) using the Peds B-SATED framework. The review will examine which sleep health domains are assessed, describe the subjective and objective measurement modalities used, and identify gaps and inconsistencies in domain coverage across studies and contexts. Methods: The review will be conducted in accordance with methodological guidance outlined in the JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis and reported following the PRISMA-ScR. Peer-reviewed quantitative and mixed-methods primary studies published from 1 January 2019 onward will be eligible for inclusion, provided that underlying data were collected in 2019 or later. Searches will be conducted in MEDLINE (PubMed), PsycARTICLES (Ovid), CINAHL (EBSCOhost), Scopus, and Web of Science. Study selection will be performed independently by multiple reviewers. Data will be charted using a structured extraction form and mapped to the six Peds B-SATED domains. Findings will be synthesized descriptively using tables, figures, and narrative summary. Significance: This scoping review will provide a structured overview of how pediatric sleep health has been assessed in the post-pandemic period, highlighting patterns in domain coverage and measurement practices. The findings will inform future research, surveillance initiatives, and the development of multidimensional pediatric sleep health assessment tools aligned with contemporary contexts.
