Abstract

The objective of this scoping review is to map out existing literature on autistic camouflaging, examining what populations and intersections of identity (e.g. gender, race, sexuality) have been studied. Further objectives aim to map out existing literature that has addressed specific axes of identity, and literature that has adopted an intersectional framework in design or analysis. It hopes to summarise how intersectionality has been operationalised in this work, and to identify gaps in the literature from an intersectional perspective. This will inform future research needed to meaningfully contribute to the conceptualisation of autistic camouflaging.
