Auxiliary Acoustic Energy Harvesting for Ultra-Low-Power Neural Implants
Abstract
This project explores a theoretical concept: integrating an auxiliary acoustic energy harvesting system into a future ultra-low-power neural implant. The central idea is to investigate whether mechanical vibrations produced by sound waves in the human ear could contribute, even minimally, to maintaining or stabilizing the battery life of a brain–computer interface (BCI), similar in concept to devices developed by Neuralink. Rather than replacing conventional power systems, the project proposes using sound-derived energy as a supplementary source to slightly reduce battery discharge and improve overall energy efficiency.
