Abstract

This case series aims to analyze the anesthesiologic and perioperative management of pediatric patients undergoing craniosynostosis surgery between 2015 and 2025 at a specialized, high volume pediatric neurosurgical center in Germany. It focuses primarily on preoperative hematologic and coagulation status, on the quantification of perioperative transfusion of allogenic blood products and perioperative hemostatic management. Furthermore, it assesses postoperative outcome parameters such as total ventilation time, duration of ICU/hospital stay and the occurrence of complications to generate hypotheses on how to improve perioperative management and patient safety in this vulnerable patient population.
