Abstract

We aim to review qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method studies focused on the experience of disaster mental health responders and the effects of disaster exposure on them. We systematically searched the literature published between January 1, 2000, and October 27, 2025, using PubMed, Web of Science, PsycInfo, Science Direct, and PsycARTICLES. The screened articles are reviewed and cross-checked by two reviewers independently. We compare and contrast the various emergency situations, such as catastrophe, emergency, hazard, and accident, in our thematic review of the included articles.
