Scoping Review on Telemedicine and Mohs Micrographic Surgery
Abstract
Telemedicine use in dermatology has expanded substantially, including postoperative monitoring and triage for Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS). However, the extent to which remote care improves outcomes or efficiency in the MMS pathway has not been systematically evaluated. This project seeks to synthesize evidence on teledermatology in MMS, including virtual triage accuracy, postoperative wound monitoring, patient satisfaction, and workflow effects. A PRISMA-based review will include observational studies, diagnostic accuracy studies, and pilot implementations evaluating telemedicine at any MMS care stage. We expect telemedicine to show high patient satisfaction, reduced travel burden, and acceptable diagnostic concordance for virtual triage; postoperative wound monitoring appears feasible and safe.
