Mapping job search patterns: A digital diary study of native and migrant-origin workers in the Netherlands
Abstract
Our study aims to describe whether the process of job search unfolds differently for migrant-origin and for native-origin individuals, with particular attention to search intensity, the quality of the jobs they apply for and the events they experience. For this purpose, we run a quasi-diary study among job searchers in the Netherlands. After completing a baseline questionnaire, participants are invited to three weekly short (quasi-diary) surveys during a period of five weeks to document their job search experience. Finally, participants are invited to complete an exit questionnaire where they mainly report the outcomes of their job search and their overall job search experience. In this particular study we aim to analyse differences in job search behaviour (including the application process) between native-origin and migrant-origin job seekers.
