Reuse of fish waste for glycosaminoglycan extraction: a systematic review focusing on sustainability and circular economy.
Abstract
The valorization of fishery waste in the production of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) represents a biotechnological advancement that combines environmental sustainability with the obtaining of high-value-added biomolecules. This systematic review aims to map strategies for extracting GAGs from fish by-products (scales, skins, and viscera).
