Frequency modulation of the Simon Effect with practice trials
Abstract
The current study aims to gain a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms of cognitive control and frequency effects. This study will investigate whether cognitive control, measured through the color Simon task, will be modulated by the frequency of presentation of stimuli. More specifically, we will measure if the congruency effect (difference in reaction time between congruent and incongruent stimuli) is modulated by the frequency of stimulus presentation. This study will use a declarative task in comparison to a more procedural task in the typical Simon task. However, participants will first practice with the typical Simon task.
