Investigating Issues of Systemic Racism through Statistical Investigations

The goal of this project is to design, test, and refine two content modules with the goals of simultaneously developing Learners’ understanding of systemic racism and statistical literacy, while normalizing conversations about race and racism in statistics and data science courses. The modules are designed to engage Learners in using statistical software (CODAP) to analyze large publicly available datasets related to the contexts. Each module is associated with an instructor guide to help navigate the context, content, software, and discussions. There modules were developed by a cross-institutional team from UNC Charlotte, Pacific Lutheran University, and University of Houston with funding from the National Science Foundation grant # 2121364.
