Abstract

Due to its classification as a relatively simple and safe surgical procedure with low rates of complications, studies regarding operative complications arising from submental lipoaspiration are not yet as extensively documented in the literature as are reports on clinical and operative protocols. However, given the expansion of professional groups qualified to perform this surgery, and the exponential increase in patient demand for aesthetic procedures over the past decades, it becomes pertinent to conduct a systematic review that aims to compile the frequency of complications associated with submental lipectomies, along with their clinical and demographic characterization, in an effort to establish an overview of this subject, just as relevant risk patterns and panoramas.
