Abstract

This deposit bundles the early volitional core of the ONTOΣ line within the Navigational Cybernetics 2.5 (NC2.5) research programme. Four essays, issued as one citable unit, trace a single movement: the progressive removal of psychological, teleological and ownership-based assumptions from the notion of Will. ONTOΣ II — Volitional Ontology of Adaptivity and a New Paradigm of Control (7 December 2025) postulates Will as a transcendent operator of directedness preceding structure and action, and states the UTAM axiom W → E → A: will sets the impulse to being, from which stable forms and then concrete actions arise. ONTOΣ III — The Volume of Will and the Role of Consciousness (8 December 2025) reads contemporary work on adaptive trajectories and drift-correcting loops against that ontology, and locates what such approaches leave unaddressed: the operator of directionality itself, and the minimal adaptive architecture. ONTOΣ IV — Intentionality Without Ownership (8 January 2026) withdraws the last implicit assumption — that Will is a point of origin — and treats it instead as a residual mode, an emergent response of form under structural strain. Intentionality is relocated to a non-possessive layer. ONTOΣ V — Ontology of Will under Conditions of Irreversibility (9 February 2026) examines the transition that closes without the subject: meaning passing in transit without becoming a direction, and action occurring where no decision was made. These essays precede the formalisation of the axiomatic core. The anchor NC2.5 v2.1 (DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/NHTC5) is given as a pointer to where the line was later formalised, not as a claim that they were written against it.
