Assessing the utility of subanaesthetic (50%) nitrous oxide as a pharmacological model of psychosis
Abstract
This study extends our programme of research examining the effects of nitrous oxide (N2O) on cognitive functioning, memory formation and subjective experiences in healthy volunteers. This document concerns a new study examining whether N2O induces psychosis-like effects in healthy human volunteers as assessed using established biomarkers of psychosis (EEG and eye-tracking metrics) and whether these metrics are associated with the acute subjective psychotomimetic effects of N2O.
