Racial disparities in Respiratory Syncytial Virus vaccination in pregnant black women: a rapid literature review
Abstract
This protocol describes the planned conduct of a rapid literature review aimed at synthesizing scientific evidence on racial inequalities and inequities in access to and uptake of maternal vaccination against respiratory syncytial virus among Black pregnant women. The review will follow internationally recognized methodological guidelines, including systematic searches in major biomedical databases, independent study selection, standardized data extraction, and critical appraisal of methodological quality. Data will be synthesized using a mixed-methods approach, combining narrative synthesis and thematic analysis, and interpreted through the lens of Critical Race Theory to better understand how structural, institutional, and social factors shape the observed disparities. The findings of this review are expected to identify knowledge gaps, inform public health policies, and support the development of strategies to promote equity in maternal immunization and maternal and child health.
