Comparison of Sealing Ability, Void Volume, and Interfacial Adaptation of Bioceramic vs Epoxy Resin Root Canal Sealers- Systematic Review
Abstract
This project is a systematic review protocol comparing the sealing ability, void volume, and interfacial adaptation of bioceramic and epoxy resin-based root canal sealers in in-vitro studies. The review will include laboratory studies conducted on extracted human permanent teeth without year restriction. Primary outcomes include apical sealing ability, void volume assessed by micro-computed tomography (micro-CT), and interfacial adaptation assessed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Secondary outcomes include push-out bond strength. The review will follow the PRISMA 2020 reporting guidelines. Risk of bias will be assessed using a modified Joanna Briggs Institute checklist for in-vitro studies. Where appropriate, meta-analysis will be performed using standardized mean difference and a random-effects model. This registration ensures transparency and methodological rigor prior to data extraction and synthesis.
