The Four Gāthās of the Diamond Sūtra as a Soteriological Trajectory
Abstract
This project hosts the English paper “The Four Gāthās of the Diamond Sūtra as a Soteriological Trajectory.” It reconstructs the four gāthās as a single internally ordered sequence, where each gāthā functions as goal, method, diagnostic criterion, and praxis. Within this trajectory, emptiness is treated not as mere negation but as a functional criterion that breaks identity-clinging and fixation. Non-abiding is interpreted as an operative condition that prevents reification and sustains observation without collapsing into objectification. The Diamond Sūtra is thus read as a structured soteriological sequence rather than a collection of isolated paradoxes. This paper is part of an integrated four-paper set coordinated via the English core hub together with the Heart Sūtra study and the Korean reconstruction paper.
