Abstract

Data collection No, no data have been collected for this study yet. Hypothesis Consumer knowledge moderates the relationship between agent type and ulterior motive attribution. The higher the consumer knowledge level, the stronger the relationship between agent type and ulterior motive attribution. Dependent variable The measurement of consumers’ adoption of alternative customized itinerary was adapted from Fridin & Belokopytov (2014) and Chua et al. (2023), consisting of three items: “How likely are you to adopt the alternative customized itinerary designed by the service agent for you?”, “To what extent do you accept the alternative customized itinerary designed by the service agent for you?”, and “To what extent are you willing to follow the alternative customized itinerary designed by the service agent for you?”. Mediator The scale for ulterior motive attribution was adapted from DeCarlo (2005), consisting of tow items: “To what extent do you believe the service agent has ulterior motives when providing alternative itinerary?”, and “To what extent do you think that service agent offering alternative is suspicious?”. Moderator The consumer knowledge scale was adapted from Luo & Toubia (2015) and Lambert-Pandraud et al. (2005) and included five items: “Compared with average person, I know much about travel,” “I have extensive knowledge of travel,” “I am very interested in travel,” “If someone asks me, I can give good advice about travel,” and “I always browse information related to travel.” Conditions Study 3 employed a single-factor between-subjects design with agent type (Gen AI vs. human). Analyses ANOVA will be conducted to test the hypothesis. Process will be used to test the mediations. An independent-samples t-test was conducted to test the main effect. Outliers and Exclusions Sample Size This study aims to collect N = 140 in Credamo. Deviations from this goal are due to Credamo system or exclusion criteria indicated above, and thus outside of our control. Other No data Name No data Type of Project Experiment Other No data
