Prior Entry and Shape Processing in Autism Spectrum
Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate shape-related perceptual processing in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and compare it with neurotypical perception. To this end, we will replicate the temporal order judgment task used by West and colleagues (2013) in Experiment 1 to measure prior entry for near versus far surfaces. We expect prior entry to occur for near surfaces over far surfaces in neurotypical participants, as reported by West et al. (2013). In contrast, we predict that ASD participants will show a reduced or absent prior-entry effect for near surfaces over far surfaces.
