Abstract

This project on local peacebuilding and agency studies a) bottom-up contributions to peaceful and sustainable development, together with the factors that are conducive or restrictive, at three levels: personal, community and structural; b) to which extent contributions are the result of public policy, and c) whether this potential contribution remains, expands or phases out after a transitional period. Research goals are to: 1) identify dimensions of peacebuilding and 2) link peace and development studies to the study of cooperatives by overcoming peace studies’ focus on ‘negative peace’ (Gleditsch, Nordkvelle and Strand, 2014). Plus the rest that is already there. This project builds on earlier work, including [2017 German book chapter] and [2018 Slovenian article], and conference preprint and proceedings on Rwanda as a case study for comparison, available in the Supporting Materials folder
