Interconnection Across the Scales of Existence: A Phenomenology of Universal Participation
Abstract
Interconnection Across the Scales of Existence: A Phenomenology of Universal Participation develops a phenomenological theory of relational existence. It argues that no known phenomenon exists in complete isolation; rather, existence is fundamentally constituted through participation in dynamic relationships extending from living bodies to ecosystems, planetary systems, and the evolving cosmos. By integrating phenomenology with insights from biology, ecology, cosmology, astronomy, and contemporary physics, the paper proposes a relational ontology in which individuality emerges through interconnection rather than independence. It introduces the Phenomenology of Universal Participation and the principle of Self-Transforming Participation, according to which every process generates further processes and every participation generates new participation.
