Intervention Programs for Perpetrators of Intimate Partner Violence with Substance Abuse: Meta-Analysis
Abstract
Problematic substance use is a significant risk factor for intimate partner violence (IPV), increasing the severity of the abuse and the risk of recidivism. In Portugal, the prevalence of substance use in the context of IPV is high, especially alcohol. However, to our knowledge, there are no specific programs for perpetrators of IPV with problematic substance use, limiting the effectiveness of current responses. The aim is to conduct a meta-analysis of existing national and international intervention programs for perpetrators of substance abuse with a history of problematic substance use.
