Abstract

This protocol describes a scoping review that aims to map and synthesise existing evidence on the use of virtual reality in perioperative nursing education at undergraduate level. The review will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology for scoping reviews and will be guided by the PCC (Population, Concept, Context) framework. Quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods sources of evidence will be included, as well as relevant conceptual literature. The search will be conducted in multiple electronic databases and grey literature sources. Study selection, data extraction and synthesis of results will be conducted by independent reviewers, with data presented in tables and descriptive narrative synthesis. This scoping review aims to identify patterns, knowledge gaps and implications for practice, education and future research in perioperative nursing.
