Abstract

The general purpose of this study is to collect original, cross-sectional, self-report data on 500+ adults with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) in order to test 6 hypotheses (which fall under two broad aims), and explore several other associations. Though expounded upon in other sections of this pre-registration, one aim of this study is to examine the association between T2D distress and attitudes towards GLP-1 medications (with the further assessment of two moderators to this association) (Aim #1). A second aim of this study is to examine the association between the use of GLP-1 medication and symptoms of depression (with further assessment of mediators of this association) (Aim #2). After IRB approval and this pre-registration, this study will collect data at one point in time. All participants will be recruited through Forthright Access, a participant-recruitment company, unaffiliated with the researcher’s host institution. Forthright Access maintains a panel of prospective research participants of adults with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and T2D. The researchers will ask Forthright Access to recruit individuals from this panel, link them to Qualtrics, where we will administer all questions and measures. After each participant completes participation in full, they will be by the researchers through Forthright Access. All participant recruitment, data collection, and compensation will be entirely anonymous to the researchers in this study.
