Abstract

This study aims to address the extent to which participating in a series of theory-driven, participatorily designed dance classes (“D4NCE”) influences wellbeing, cognitive functioning, and mobility, as well as social relationship development, in community-dwelling older and younger adults over time. We will also explore the extent to which intergenerational, relative to same generation, social interactions within the dance classes contribute to such wellbeing and social outcomes. Lastly, we will compare changes in wellbeing and social outcomes from individuals in the D4NCE classes to individuals who participate in other non-D4NCE community sports or arts programs.
