Risk of anterior cruciate ligament rupture in the contralateral leg following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery in athletes: Systematic review
Abstract
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture is a severe sports-related injury frequently requiring surgical reconstruction and extensive rehabilitation. Following ACL reconstruction (ACLR), athletes face a substantially increased risk of secondary injury, with graft failure and contralateral ACL rupture occurring at comparable rates. To systematically identify the demographic, anatomical, and biomechanical factors associated with an increased risk of contralateral ACL rupture in athletes following ACL reconstruction.
