Abstract

This scoping review will examine how treatment attributes related to fatigue are defined, described, and operationalised in patient preference studies. The review will draw on a previously conducted systematic review of patient preference studies in the medical field. From the set of articles identified in that review, we will include all manuscripts that report fatigue as one or more treatment attributes. For each included study, we will extract and descriptively analyse information on: (1) whether fatigue is referenced to an existing patient-reported outcome (PRO) instrument or conceptual framework; (2) how fatigue is defined or described within the study; and (3) how fatigue attributes are specified and levelled, where applicable. The synthesis will be qualitative and descriptive, aiming to map current practices, identify heterogeneity in definitions and operationalisation, and highlight gaps and areas for methodological improvement in the use of fatigue-related attributes in patient preference research.
