Performative Narrative Identity and Rejection Sensitivity in Adolescents: A Conceptual Exploration of Behavioural Patterns
Abstract
This conceptual research paper explores performative narrative identity and rejection sensitivity in adolescents through behavioural observations and theoretical synthesis. The study integrates Erikson’s psychosocial development theory, Goffman’s dramaturgical perspective, social identity theory, and media self-presentation frameworks to examine how adolescents internalize fictional narratives and construct performative social personas. The work analyses how such behavioural patterns influence peer relationships, social acceptance, emotional regulation, and identity development within media-saturated environments. This paper presents a theoretical framework intended to encourage further empirical research in adolescent media psychology and social behavioural studies. All behavioural descriptions are anonymized and presented as composite observations to maintain ethical standards.
