Abstract

Open tibia fractures are rising in Sub-Saharan Africa due to road traffic injuries, causing infections, impaired healing, and limb loss. Delayed surgery and limited orthoplastic care hinder the outcomes. Strengthening orthoplastic services can improve outcomes. The scoping review will evaluate the existing practices, outcomes, and gaps in orthoplastic reconstruction in Sub-Saharan Africa, informing future research and policy. Expected outcomes: 1. Patients and injury characteristics 2. Type of reconstruction used 3. Clinical outcomes (Infection, union rate, functional outcomes) 4. Barriers to orthoplastic in Sub-Saharan Africa
