Abstract

This scoping review systematically maps how freezing of gait (FOG) is classified in Parkinson's disease literature and aligns existing methods with the 2026 ICFOG Certainty Classification Scheme. FOG lacks standardized assessment across studies, hindering research comparability. Which ICFOG Certainty Levels correspond to current FOG classification methods in PD research? Three-stage literature search across PubMed, Cochrane, and CINAHL. Two independent reviewers will screen and extract data from studies classifying FOG/non-FOG. Descriptive synthesis will organize findings into summary tables. Identify gaps between current practices and standardized ICFOG framework, informing future research standards. Feb–Mar 2026 (search) → Apr–May 2026 (screening/extraction) → Jun–Aug 2026 (synthesis)
