Development of a Service Directory for Exercise Oncology Professionals in Western Australia: A Phased Implementation Study

This study develops a comprehensive service directory of exercise oncology professionals and programs as essential infrastructure for implementing systematic exercise referral pathways across Western Australia. Building on the foundational work of Project SCENIC, which demonstrated the feasibility of implementing exercise referral pathways in South West WA, this directory addresses one of the key implementation barriers identified: healthcare providers and patients lack knowledge of qualified exercise professionals with cancer-specific expertise. Using a phased, mixed-methods approach, the study begins with the South West region as a pilot to refine methods and establish quality assurance processes before expanding statewide. The directory serves as critical infrastructure enabling systematic referral processes and workforce capacity mapping needed for successful pathway implementation.
