Innovation, landscape resilience and sustainable development in rural territories
Abstract
In the context of climate change, which multiplies the challenges facing society and territories, it is increasingly imperative to develop adaptive, integrated models for land and landscape management. And although they are in decline, some rural areas have seen progress in their revitalisation in recent years through innovative and dynamic initiatives. Thus, the objective of this research, in an integrated and holistic approach, is to identify the drivers of rural innovation in the Douro and Lavaux regions and evaluate their impact on promoting resilience and sustainability in wine-growing landscapes. To this end, we will address an emerging theme that the OECD recognises as understudied and underexplored. This project, therefore, aims to fill this gap and, ultimately, contribute to improving public policies.
