Self-distancing effect on AI's wise reasoning
Abstract
Adopting a third-person (self-distanced) perspective typically enhances wise reasoning in humans, which is known as Solomon’s paradox. The present study tests whether wise reasoning in AI-generated responses differs when models are prompted to adopt a third- versus first-person perspective. Additionally, we test the effects of prompt language and model origin on wise reasoning
