Abstract

This systematic review protocol investigates the clinical effectiveness of biophilic interventions—simulated natural environments—delivered via Extended Reality (XR) for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases, such as Dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Given the rising prevalence of these conditions and the physical barriers to accessing real-world nature, this study aims to synthesize current evidence on how immersive natural environments impact cognitive performance, psychological well-being, and neuropsychiatric symptoms. The review follows a narrative synthesis approach (SWiM guidelines) and utilizes the GRADE framework to assess the certainty of the evidence across primary outcomes, providing an evidence-based foundation for improving quality of life in this population.
