Abstract

The study replicates and extends Study 4 from Williams et al. (2019). It is a between-subjects experimental study examining whether exposure to a resource scarcity manipulation influences endorsement of the death penalty among "death-qualified" U.S. adults (i.e., participants with extreme views either for or against capital punishment will be excluded). Participants are randomly assigned to a scarcity or control condition and complete measures of death penalty endorsement following the manipulation. The preregistration specifies the study design, sampling plan, exclusion criteria, and primary analysis prior to data collection.
